Golmaal Again Music Review

As we gear up for the big Diwali release of Golmaal Again, let us take a dive into the music of the film, which has been released already. Notably, only four tracks have made their way into the album which has been composed collaboratively by Amaal Mallik, S. Thaman and DJ Chetas.

The first song in the album is the Golmaal title track. It’s yet another iteration of the song we’ve been hearing since the first film which came out in 2006. This one adds some festive beats to the mix, and goes for the chorus line, ‘Go go Golmaal! Everything’s gonna be Golmaal.’

More than anything, it seems like an average effort. Its music is repetitive, while the vocals of Brijesh Shandilya and Aditi Singh Sharma do not manage to add any magic of their own to make the song sound better.

Maine Tujhko Dekha is the second track from the Golmaal Again album. It’s a recreation of the song Neend Churai Meri from the 1997 film, Ishq which too starred Ajay Devgn, apart from Aamir, Juhi and Kajol. This track is being sung by Neeraj Shridhar and Sukriti Kakar. The idea here is to change the verses and keep the chorus the same.

While the verses have been written well by Kumaar – the line ‘Chaand ko complex diya hai tere chehre ne’ takes the cake – they do not lead up well to the chorus. Something seems abrupt there. However, the charm of the old song is still the same, and this song will hence be a nostalgia trip for those who’ve listened to the original.

Itna Sannata Kyun Hai, the third song from the album, tries to be an inspirational song with its lyrics. It’s again a good effort from Kumaar’s part. However, listening to the song makes it feel more like a dance number. It’s unclear what direction the music directors wanted to take here.

The final track from Golmaal Again is Hum Nahi Sudhrenge which has been composed by Amaal Mallik. This one has a mellow vibe in its music and adds some much-needed change from the other three songs. Also, the lyrics are perfect for the kind of people the main characters are.

The short and not sweet album appears to have been rushed, and hence sounds very average. These songs will get played during the promotions of the film, but you surely won’t be hearing them later.

It seems like Rohit Shetty hasn’t given much importance to the music of Golmaal Again, unlike his other films which always have great tracks. Let’s just hope same isn’t the case with other aspects of the film.
