Arijit Singh is that one name of the Indian music industry that has gone beyond every boundary of fame and appreciation not only in this country but across the world. He is not only one of the most versatile singers that India has ever produced, but has many a feather added to his crown, including being a composer, music producer, recording artist and a music programmer. As this vocal king of India turns 31 today (25th April, 2018), let us take a look at some interesting yet lesser known facts about his life, career and his work:
Arijit Singh is trained in Indian classical music. He received his training in Indian classical vocals from Guru Rajendra Prasad Harjari and tabla from Dhirendra Prasad Harjari. Besides he has also been taught advanced music, Bengali songs and folk by Virendra Prasad Harjari.

When asked about which singers he likes the most, Arijit Singh named Ghulam Ali, Jagjit Singh, and Mehdi Hasan as his constant favorites. He is also an avid listener of Western pop and has mentioned Jason Mraz as one of his most favorite western artists in multiple interviews.
Before he became the most sought-after vocalist in India as he is today, he has had his fair share of struggle in life as well. Hailing from a small town of Jiaganj in Murshidabad, Arijit struggled for ten long years in Mumbai before securing himself a place in the industry. During his struggling years, he had once had to go back to his home since he ran out of money and could not continue living in Mumbai on his own.
At the start of his singing career, he received a nomination for the Upcoming Male Vocalist of the Year award at the 2013 Mirchi Music Awards for his rendition of Phir Le Aya Dil for the movie Barfi! (2012). But originally his rendition of this song was not supposed to be in the album. He was supposed to record the demo only. He recorded and arranged that song in about 20 minutes while he had an auto waiting for him outside the studio, as he was supposed to go watch a movie. But his rendition turned out to be so good that later it was included in the album as well.
In one of his interviews from a few years ago, Arijit revealed that when his song Tum Hi Ho from Aashiqui 2 (2013) became a huge success, with his consequent earnings, he bought a piano for himself as he had always wished to have one of his own. A man of many talents, Arijit frequently plays the piano and the guitar during his live concerts.
Arijit Singh is the living example of what hard work, perseverance, patience, faith and humility can achieve for a human being. Having been an athlete in the past, Singh, in one of his interviews with Google, recollected in an interactive session with an audience how his sportsmanship has made him chase higher and higher goals every time he reached one milestone.
