The trailer of the romantic-comedy ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’ has been grabbing eyeballs since the day of its release. It has been greatly appreciated for its sensitive portrayal of a young woman and her relationship with her family. “Ishq Mitha” claims to be the trending wedding song of the year, which is true because it exhibits energy, happiness and fun as is expected in an Indian wedding. In fact, the song has earned more than 26 thousand views and still counting, in a single day.
“Ishq Mitha” has been sung by Navraj Hans and Harshdeep Kaur, both of whom have made a successful career in Bollywood playback singing for themselves. The lyrics of the song have been written by Gurpreet Saini, and the music has been composed by Rochak Kohli. The song is based on a Punjabi traditional folk song of the name “Gur Naalo Ishq Mittha”, with additional vocals by Shelly Dhar, Gurpreet Saini, Asees Kaur and Sanjeevani. The song was released under the music label SaReGaMa India Ltd. on 14th January, 2019.
The song begins at a Punjabi ‘mehendi’ ceremony where a group of women invite the main protagonist, Sweety, to join in the celebrations. Since the story is set in a Punjabi family, the lyrics are in Punjabi. Though the song starts on a slow note, it suddenly catches the beat at Navraj Hans’ “oh gud naalo ishq mitha” and everybody breaks into a dance. The music video moves on to the scene where everyone dances to the song, ending with a sangeet dance at night.
In all, “Ishq Mittha” is a happy song filled with energy and fun, which perfectly brings out the excitement in a Punjabi wedding ceremony. The actors are dressed in bright and sunny colours as well such as bright pink, yellow, green and orange which add to the celebrations.
“Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga” is said to be one of the ‘most unexpected romances of the year. It stars Sonam Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Anil Kapoor, Regina Cassandra, Juhi Chawla, Abhishek Duhan, Seema Pahwa, Madhumalti and Brijendra Kalra in the lead roles. The movie will be released on 1 February, 2019.
