Upcoming horror flick Amavas will mark the comeback of Nargis Fakhri, and it also stars Sachiin J Joshi. The makers of this one have now gone ahead and released the first song from its soundtrack in the form of Jab Se Mera Dil. This song has been composed by the duo of Sanjeev–Darshan. Armaan Malik and Palak Muchhal have lent their voices to this one.

Jab Se Mera Dil is a romantic track which follows all the tropes of modern romantic songs. Its composition, the instruments used, the singing style, everything echo of similar tracks we’ve been hearing over the years. In a way, this song is just trying to be a hit song, without thinking too much on what makes a hit song.

Armaan Malik is his usual self, and while his singing style is well suited for a song like this, the voice of Palak Muchhal feels out of place. It seems at times that both the singers aren’t on the same page with their singing. No coherence is given to the song by their respective voices.

The lyrics, written by Sandeep Nath, don’t end up impressing as well. The chorus, “Jab se mera dil tera hua. Pucho na mujhko mujhe kya hua. Ab teri baahon mein jeena mujhe. Warna hai marr jaana” is as generic as ever. And the rest of the lyrics too sound like reshuffled lines from other underwhelming songs.

Amavas is an upcoming horror film produced by T-Series, which stars Sachiin J Joshi & Nargis Fakhri in lead roles. Its other cast includes Mona Jasbir Singh, Ali Asgar Agha, Navneet Kaur Dhillon and Vivan Bhathena. This film has been directed by Bhushan Patel, who is known for movies like 1920: Evil Returns, Ragini MMS 2 and Alone.

Amavas is slated to be released in theatres across India on January 16.
