Though he’s rarely seen in the Bollywood music industry these days, Jeet Gannguli is not a name to be forgotten. Born as Chandrajeet Ganguly in Kolkata, he was trained in Indian classical music guided by his father Kali Ganguly and his aunt Shibani Roychowdhury. He has learnt western classical music, jazz, and rock under the jazz guitarist Carlton Kitto. He composed the first song with Pritam for the movies “Tere Liye” (2001) and “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai” (2002) and later parted ways to compose his own music for Bollywood movies.

“Baatein Yeh Kabhi Na” From Khamoshiyan (2015)

This song is the reason why Arijit Singh is believed to be the best romantic singer of the decade. Starring Gurmeet Chowdhary, Sapna Pabbi and Ali Fazal in the leading roles, this is but a sensual song of love.

“Chahun Main Ya Na” From Aashiqui 2 (2013)

The song symbolises the culminating point of the entire movie, where Arohi has become a rising star and Rahul finally realises his love for her. Starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, “Chahun Main Ya Na” was a mad success.

“Jitni Dafa” From Parmanu (2018)

This perfect love song of the year has won much appreciation from the audience due to its unusual John Abraham-Diana Penty pairing and beautiful lyrics. Gannguli definitely struck a few diehard romantic hearts with this one.

“Lo Maan Liya” From Raaz Reboot (2016)

Though the movie was quickly forgotten, “Lo Maan Liya” is a heartbreak song sung by the romantic singer Arijit Singh. The video stars Emraan Hashmi and Kriti Kharbanda as a couple who are no longer together due to certain circumstances.

“Dekha Hazaaron Dafa” From Rustom (2017)

A beautiful romantic song set in a formal dance, Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’Cruz brought out the real beauty of their on-screen love in this song. The song was sung by Arijit Singh and Palak Muchhal.

Title Song From Humari Adhuri Kahaani (2015)

Starring Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan in the lead roles, this was a well-received romantic number at the time of its release. The poignant lyrics and the heartwrenching music worked in favour of Arijit Singh and Jeet Gannguli and it was declared a hit song by the audience.

Though views are temporary, the beauty of these songs are permanent. Let’s hope that Jeet Gannguli makes more of such lovely Bollywood songs in the near future as well.
