Asim Azhar of Coke Studio fame, who rocks the pop world of Pakistan, releases his first track in India, titled Jo Tu Na Mila Mujhe. Needless to say, this is a heart-wrenching number, and the pain the voice of Asim conveys the message of the agony in love even better.
The song has been composed and sung by Asim himself and the beautiful words of the song have been woven by Kunal Verma. The video has been directed by Yasir Jaiswal. The song, both through its lyrics and video, conveys the despondency of a lover whose beloved has left him.
Everyone who has been through that terrible phase of a heartbreak will definitely relate to “Jo Tu Na Mila”. This song weaves the story of every lover who has been hurt. We see Asim desperately following his girl going on a date with another man. Not paying heed to his friend’s advice of moving on, he pursues his girl nonetheless. Though this may come across as a little weird and creepy because the despair in the lover is a bit too much, everything has been fair in love. We are left wondering if he was following his lover to get her back or to catch the last glimpse of her.
What touches our heart is the amazing beat of the music that this song has, and the soulful voice of Asim remains with us for quite some time after hearing the song. This song of unrequited love is agonizing as we see Asim assembling all the memories that he has of his beloved and at the end of the video we see him burning his happiness that was locked up in all the memories he possessed. It is for the best that he destroys the memories he had for no good can come out of unrequited love.
It is a very pleasing video, and we also love Iqra Aziz’s performance here. The video gives us a fleeting impression of the lovers getting back together when Iqra sees Asim while dancing. However, it seems that the human in Asim got the better of him and he chose to leave finally. It’s a video with a sad ending but with the lover moving on, and that’s what’s important.
