“It was a very special moment to have received the awards from such an artist like Sivamani, that too in the presence of legends like AR Rahman, Sonu Nigam, Ehsaan & Loy, Srinivas Murthy etc.” Meghdeep says. “I have been fortunate to have worked with him, and it was one of THE special moments to collect the IRAAs from him!”

About the song “Uff Ye Noor”, he says, “It took me a month to produce this song. The most special part is that this song had a lot of live musicians involved, unlike other songs today where most music is programmed.” He is thankful to Amaal Mallik for having given him the freedom to do this.

The other non-film song, ‘Tomar Holo Shuru’ from the album ‘Tagore for Today’ was sung by Ash King. By a label named Strumm Entertainment has been working on contemporizing songs of Rabindranath Tagore, this song is a lovely cover of the classic Rabindrasangeet. “I had travelled to south India to collaborate with musicians there to do “Tomar holo Shuru” and Ash has sung it in London and had it sent to me, as he was not in India when we were doing this” said Meghdeep. Although the song is not available in the form of a video on YouTube, you can find the album online on iTunes, Amazon or Saavn.

Amaal Mallik came across Meghdeep’s work as a producer when he heard one of his tracks being mixed at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai, they first collaborated for the track “Main Hoon Hero Tera”. When asked about his experience on working with the Malik brothers who are a hit at the Bollywood music scene right now, Meghdeep says, “Young blood and classic souls, exactly like me, so we vibed a lot for this reason. Amaal is the composer, and my client so I am more acquainted with Amaal, with whom my basic school of thought and brainstorming happens.” He also mentioned about Amaal being really supportive and liberal when creativity of a musician is concerned.

Meghdeep also shared how he had unconventionally composed the theme of Bol Do Na Zara on a detuned piano for the intro piece in Azhar and also said how he ensures that the audience can feel the connect. The chat with Meghdeep made us realize, good music comes from the use of intelligent melody that match the lyrics.

About his upcoming projects, Meghdeep is working on with Vishal-Shekhar on Bharat and Student of the year 2 and also with Amit Trivedi and Amaal Malik for upcoming songs. We hope Meghdeep keeps creating more such magical songs, and we wish him all the best for his future endeavors.
