Miley Cyrus has released a new music video for her song ‘Mother’s Daughter,’ which features a brazen celebration of the sexuality of women and people who don’t conform to a specific gender. The song was released via streaming platforms on June 11 as the first single from her upcoming seventh studio album, She Is Miley Cyrus.

Speaking about the music video, it’s filled with provocative imagery that includes Miley Cyrus dressed in a latex suit, with metal claws placed on her crotch. All the clips are punctuated with text plates that use lines like, “Every woman is a riot,” “Virginity is a social construct,” “She is in your eyes,” “Not an object” and “Don’t fuck with my freedom.”

The music video of ‘Mother’s Daughter’ also includes a number of celebrity guests like models Aaron Philip and Casil McArthur, skateboarder Lacey Baker, dancer Amazon Ashley, actress Angelina Duplisea. Cyrus’ own mother Tish Cyrus can also be spotted in the video, along with 11-year-old activist Mari Copeny.

She Is Miley Cyrus will be Miley’s seventh studio album. It is yet to get a release date, but we can expect some music from her EP, She Is Coming to be included in it, as is the case with ‘Mother’s Daughter.’ This song has been written by Cyrus along with Andrew Wyatt and Alma Miettinen. Along with being a women empowerment anthem, it also focuses on her strong relationship with her mother.

Miley’s last studio album had come in the form of Younger Now, which was released in September 2017. It received mixed reviews, but its two singles, ‘Malibu’ and the title track ‘Younger Now’ had become quite big hits. This album also features guest vocals from Dolly Parton, who happens to be a godmother to Miley Cyrus.
