A wholesome treat to the ears

Mukkabaaz doesn’t release until January 12 in India, which means fans eagerly awaiting the film will have to make do with its music for now. The entire album, composed by Nucleya, Rachita Arora and Vineet Kumar Singh is out now, so let’s take a look at what it has in store for us.

The album begins with Paintra which has been out for quite some time now, and has been sung by Divine. It’s the kind of song that will get you pumped up for sure. In terms of style, Paintra is actually very similar to a song called Scene Kya Hai, which too is a collaboration between Nucleya and Divine.

But despite this, it has the potential to stand on its own as a high octane number which is enhanced by some really witty lyrics. Then comes Mushkil Hai Apna Meil Priye which is a track in which a lover is expressing his shortcomings in trying to keep their relationship alive. This one impresses more with its lyrics than anything else.

Lines like, ‘Tum afsar baabu ki beti, main frustration ka beta hoon’ and ‘Tum AC ghar mein rehti ho, main ped ke neeche leta hoon’ have been brilliantly used to explain the situation. Brijesh Shandilya’s frantic voice is also one of the highlights of this song.

Bahut Hua Samman is a protest song which again impresses with its lyrics, and same goes for Chhipkali which is a slow number sung excellently by Vijay Arora. Bohot Dukha Mann, sung by Rachita Arora and Dev Arijit gives a similar feel to that of Gulaal’s Aisi Sazaa, but it doesn’t manage to create the same magic, and ends up being a weak link in the album.

Sade Teen Baje seems like a folk song which too has been filled with funny lyrics. Adhura Main is the only song from the album that has been written and composed by the lead actor Vineet Kumar Singh. Sung beautifully by Deepak Thakur on the background of just a harmonium, it recites a sad tale of loneliness.

The music of Mukkabaaz surely isn’t chartbuster stuff, but one thing we know about Anurag Kashyap’s films is that the music goes very well with the movie itself, and same can be expected to be the case with this album.
