Bilal Saeed has just released a new single via the Desi Music Factory YouTube channel, and the video has already grabbed 12 million views in 2 days. This Punjabi song is called Baarish, and it talks about the travails of separation. An important aspect about this track is that it has been composed, written and sung by Bilal Saeed himself. He moreover, also stars in the music video.

Baarish begins with an Urdu sher recited by the signer. It goes, “Main jal raha hoon. Teri dooriyon mein door kahin. Tere dil mein bhi dabi koi to aatish hogi. Aaj aayi hai phir se yaad teri ke. Aaj lagta hai phir se baarish hogi.” As this sher explains, Baarish is a sad song about the separation of two lovers.

Baarish progresses at a slow pace with traditional beats that are accompanied by sarangi tunes. A piano constantly plays in the background, giving the music a stage to exist on. Bilal Saeed’s vocal performance is as alluring as ever. He has a distinctly Punjabi voice that suits the song pretty well.

The lyrics, which have been written by him, are admirable. The first verse goes, “Kaali raat te hove payi bearish. Teri yaad kare payi saazish. Na le dil di yeh farmaish. Tu ik vaari aaja ve. Te dil zara lag jaave. Je ek vaari aaja ve. Te dil zara lag jaave.” These lines convey the message of the song very well.

Five months ago, Bilal Saeed released his hugely successful song Snapchat Story with Romee Khan as a featuring artist. This track was also released under the Desi Music Factory label, and has till date, garnered more than 51 million views on YouTube. And he has also now composed a song for the upcoming film Baazaar, which stars Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Chitrangda Singh and newcomer Rohan Mehra.

Bilal Saeed started his career as a writer and music composer back in 2011, and it’s in the same year that he released his debut single 12 Saal. This breakthrough hip-hop track pushed him onto the big stage, where he has been doling out hit after hit ever since. He holds the distinction of being the only Pakistani singer to get nominated for PTC Punjabi Music Awards.
