If you feel that Bollywood is running short of romantic songs, you haven’t yet listened to ‘Pal’ from the movie ‘Jalebi’. This song, sung by the ever-melodious duo Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal is one of the most soothing songs till date.

‘Pal’ from Jalebi speaks about the love between two people, and how that love blooms over time. The starting of the song is with an amazing tune, and then Arijit Singh’s voice captures the scenario. What we loved about the song is how the scenes of the music video match perfectly with the lyrics. The music video is very vibrant and full of life. It shows a young couple played by actors Varun Mitra and Rhea Chakraborty. The chemistry between the duo is also bubbling throughout the song. The song is one that has every kind of element in it, be it love, naughtiness or anger. At the end of the music video, we find the character of Rhea with her backpack, leaving her locality. Clippings of differentiation between the leading duo are also quite visible during the ending.

When Shreya Ghoshal’s voice enters the song, the song’s dynamics completely change. Her voice adds a new dimension to the already mesmerizing track. Again, the song emphasizes on the quiet nature of love and aspirations related to it. The lyrics creates a certain yearning and beauty to the love that two lovers share with one another. Lyrics like “Tu haath mein haath jo de gaya” (when you placed your hand on mine) or “Subah mein hoon tu dhoop hain, main aaina hoon tu roop hain” (If I’m morning, you are the sunshine, if I’m in the mirror, you are its beauty) tend to create the ambience of the song. These lyrics convey what young love is all about.

The duo of Varun and Rhea shine on screen with this song. Their actions perfectly match the subtlety of the melody and rhythm of the song. Directed by Pushpdeep Bhardwaj and produced by Mukesh Bhatt, this movie is releasing on the 12th of October, so make sure you do not miss this song at the theatres!
