Raghu Dixit has composed and sung songs for many movies from Bollywood and the South Indian music industry. His music combines Indian ethnic styles such as folk music, Indian rock, classical music and Indian pop along with music influences from different parts of the world. He has produced music for contemporary dance and theatre productions, such as the contemporary dance group Nritarutya headed by his wife and artistic-director Mayuri Upadhya. Here is a list of songs that he has composed and sung for Bollywood movies:

“Darmiyan” From Chef (2017)

Raghu Dixit pours out soulful music into this composition which is set in a soft background score with guitars. The music video stars Saif Ali Khan and Padmapriya Janakiraman in the lead roles, who try to rekindle their relationship. The movie is based on the American comedy-drama of the same name, but this song truly stands out from the rest of the movie.

“Shugal Laga Le” From Chef (2017)

Sung and composed by Raghu Dixit, “Shugal Laga Le” begins with a catchy beat and African-influenced melody. Set at a party, the song is fun and high-spirited and is about living your life to the fullest no matter what. The background score comprises live percussions, guitar, banjo and bass. Dixit is the lead singer with additional vocals by Nimish Shah, Bhavani, Nikitha Venkatesh, Sunaina Benne, Parag Chhabra and Nakul Abhyenkar.

“Bewakoofiyan” From Bewakoofiyan (2014)

A heartbreak song but not quite, this spunky song with pop beats focuses on the separation between Mohit and Myra. A modern pop background score, Dixit has added his own inflections to the song to make it sound catchy and relatable to the younger generation. This is the title song of the movie, and stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonam Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor in the lead roles.

“Har Saans Mein” From Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge (2011)

“Haar Saans Mein” is a quirky song with Indian folk elements, tabla and the guitar. Detailing the first few stages of a relationship, the movie features Saqib Saleem and Saba Azad in the lead roles. The music is created using stop motion animation, which gives a whole new but comical look to the entire song.

Dixit has recently sung a few songs for Malayalam and Tamil movies like “Paranne” from the Malayalam pyschological-drama ‘Koode’ and “Neeyum Naanum Anbe” for the Tamil crime-thriller ‘Imaikka Nodigal’.
