Rihanna – The Pop-Star And Style Icon Who Never Does It Wrong

From Diamonds to Monster, it's been quite a musical journey for Rihanna

The post modern age can be very vaguely categorized as the pop age. This is the era of pop artists rising to the occasion and seizing the day. While there are many pop artists, not everyone has been quite able to acquire the widely popular, inspirational and style icon image as Rihanna. Not only has the pop star defied and defined the genre but she is at par with major pop sensations like Madonna, Britney Spears and Michael Jackson. So, as she turns 30 on the 20th of February, 2018, should we play her Birthday Cake from her album Talk that Talk?

Her first ever album was the Music of the Sun which was a massive success. Not only that, she went on to release a wide spectrum of hit songs like Umbrella, Disturbia, Unfaithful, Diamonds, Take a bow and more. She has bagged several industrial accolades including Grammys.

Her first album featured the hit song “If It’s Lovin’ That You Want” following which she released her second album A girl like me, which included two of her other hits Unfaithful and SOS.

2007 witnessed a massive transformation in the artist as a teen pop star to a global sex symbol in the album Good girl gone bad suggested by the name itself. The lead single Umbrella created a history that has been untouched. She also won a Grammy for this. Please don’t stop the music also showcased MJ’s Wanna be startin somethin’.

The following year she released Good girl gone bad: Reloaded which smashed records further with songs like Disturbia.

In 2009 she released Rated R and Loud the following year, both of which earned immense commercial success and appreciation worldwide. In 2011 her Talk that Talk won her another Grammy for the song We found love.

Besides these, she was also featured in a majority of music videos one of which gained such popularity that has been yet unparalleled – we all know its Love the way you lie with Eminem, don’t we?

Her 2012 album Unapologetic won her yet another Grammy and the following year her successful collaboration with Eminem Monster reached No.1 yet again.

Although talked much for her flamboyant attire, persona and sexually provocative imagery this global star didn’t have to look back. Her style and fashion sense make her a goddess no less than her music does. Even when she takes some massive fashion risks, they never go wrong for her. She has had tumultuous relationships and her personal life is a major wreck. But she makes music that speaks to billions across the world! Here’s wishing Rihanna a very 30th happy birthday!
