A new music video from the band Sanam is out now in the form of ‘Apni Yaari.’ This track was released by them as a friendship day special, and has been created as part of McDowell’s No. 1 Yaari campaign. What’s interesting is that its lyrics have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
“They say friends are like diamonds – bright, beautiful, valuable and always in style. ‘Apni Yaari’ is an ode to friendship… the moments of wild laughter, the memories of taking giant leaps together, the times of being each others safety net. You see who they truly are, and they know exactly what’s in your heart,” the band conveyed through their Instagram account.
The music of ‘Apni Yaari’ has a reggae-like feel to it. It’s a peppy song that also impresses with its lyrics. Lines like “Atrang hai, malang hai. Har haal mein saare sang hai. Kuch baat hai. Kuch to baat hai. Yeh zamana jalta hai to jal kar dekhe. Jeene ki mauj rahenge hum to leke,” really highlight the true spirit of friendship.
Sanam Puri has of course sung the entire track. His trademark voice and singing style are well suited for a piece like this one. Apart from the band itself, Clinton Cerejo has also been credited as a composer for this track.
As for the music video of ‘Apni Yaari,’ it has been shot to look like an Instagram video. The band is shown to be doing a live show on the platform, with people liking and sharing it among themselves. What doesn’t go well with the track is the plugging of the McDowell’s No. 1 Yaari jingle in the middle of the song.
