As Welcome to New York gears up for its much-awaited release, the various songs that are being released for its promotion have started catching our eye. One of them is called Smiley, and the best part about its music video is that it features a number of cameos from prominent Bollywood stars.
“Na hasne mein kar kanjoosiyan. Show me a big smiley” is the hook of this song which is urging us to turn that frown upside down. What came as quite a surprise when we first listened to this one was that Boman Irani has sung it, along with Dhvani Bhanushali. His heavy voice is surprisingly flexible it seems, and he has delivered quite an impressive singing performance.
Composed by Shamir Tandon, the song itself is pretty average. It’s not catchy by any means, so it’s just the cameos in the music video that will keep you hooked on. First to appear is Varun Dhawan, who is followed by Arjun Kapoor. These actors are mainly lip-syncing to the laugher portions of the song. song.
Taapsee Pannu has also made an appearance in this track, along with Sonu Sood. Moreover, it seems R Balki, the director has also given a small clip of himself for this track. Another surprise is Anil Kapoor who sings the song while riding a bicycle, for some reason. Even Shahid Kapoor makes his presence felt in the song through a video that seems to have been shot on a smartphone. The other cameo we spotted was that of Yami Gautam.
Welcome to New York is actually a film that’s being looked forward to for its cameos. It reportedly has stars like Disha Patani, Neha Dhupia, Preity Zinta, Tapsee Pannu, Kriti Sanon, Shahid Kapoor, Suneil Shetty, Tiger Shroff, Salman Khan, Mohit Sinha, Katrina Kaif and more playing small roles in it. This, apart from the fact that Karan Johar, Lara Dutta, Boman Irani and Riteish Deshmukh will be seen playing supporting roles.
Directed by Chakri Toleti and starring Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha, Welcome to New York is a 3D rom-com that’s slated to hit theatres tomorrow.
