Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety Music Review

The album marks the return of Honey Singh after a 2-year hiatus

The entire soundtrack of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has been released online, even as the film gears up for its February 23rd release date. It comprises of 8 songs in total, with the music credits going to a number of different artists, prime among them being Yo Yo Honey Singh and Amaal Mallik.

The album beings with Dil Chori which is a take on the already popular song of the same name. Apart from the lyrics, the music too looks to create a Punjabi wedding vibe. Ishers and Simar Kaur are handling the singing duties on this song, whereas Yo Yo Honey Singh makes a cameo with his rap.

The next song is called Subah Subah, and the first thing that I remembered after listening to this one is the track Sooraj Dooba Hain from the film Roy. Every big album these days has to have an Arijit Singh song, and for Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, it’s this one. It’s a slow romantic number that’s overpowered by the extremely familiar voice and singing style of Arijit Singh. Which is why Prakriti Kakar’s voice comes as a welcome relief.

Chhote Chhote Peg is the traditional Honey Singh party song, but it comes nowhere close to what his other big hits had offered us. The song picks up the tune of Hans Raj Hans’ Tote Tote Ho Gaya, and even borrows portions from other popular tracks, but there’s absolutely no cohesiveness here. The song seems like something a novice DJ would make when given to use the turntable for the first time.

Bom Diggy Diggy progresses at a slow pace, and unfolds as a party track. It has been composed by Zack Knight, and sung by him along with Jasmin Walia. Compared to the other songs from the album, this one definitely stands out due to its uniqueness.

After giving two big hits last year in the form of Suit Suit and Ban Ja Rani, Guru Randhawa is back this year with the song Kaun Nachdi, which he sings along with Neeti Mohan. It’s an exciting track, but it does not have the kind of magic that his previous hit songs have delivered.

Lakk Mera Hit plays like a Punjabi folk song, but has beats that will make you want to start shaking a leg immediately. Tera Yaar Hoon Main is a sad romantic song sung by Arijit Singh and Rochak Kohli. It’s a good track and we wonder why the makers aren’t using it for the film’s promotions.

Sweety Slowly Slowly is a Mika Singh track, and he manages to wield his familiar magic with it. His mere voice pumps a special kind of energy into any song, and same is the case with this one.

Like I said, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety will be hitting screens near you on February 23. Its music however is available for streaming on all major platforms.
