Upcoming film Genius has just had its first song released into the open in the form of Tera Fitoor. This romantic song is bringing together the musical talents of singer Arijit Singh and composer Himesh Reshammiya, while its lyrics have been written by Kumaar. And we must say, this amorous number has turned out to be quite impressive.

Tera Fitoor presents a dreamy vibe right from the start. This is moreover enhanced by the delectable voice of Arijit Singh. His voice shines throughout the song, and makes you fall in love with it. Kumaar’s lyrics aren’t extraordinary, but they suit the composition well.

The song begins with its chorus which goes, “Tera fitoor jab se chadh gaya re. Tera fitoor jab se chadh gaya re. Ishq jo zara sa tha woh badh gaya re. Tera fitoor jab se chadh gaya re” and moves on towards its first verse which goes, “Tu jo mere sang chalne lage. To meri raahein dhadakne lage. Dekhun na jo ik pal main tumhein. Toh meri baahein tadapne lage.” As you can see, these lines are quite generic in nature and don’t manage to impress you much.

The music video is also extremely generic. It features a college setting, and has all the tropes that directors usually use in them. You get your standard flirting, random dances in the courtyard and even the Pehla Nasha-like elation in which the actor throws papers in the air in the middle of an exam.

Genius is being directed by Anil Sharma who was the director behind the wildly successful Gadar. It stars his son Utkarsh Sharma – who played the little child in Gadar by the way – and Ishita Chauhan. The film also stars Mithun Chakraborty, Ayesha Jhulka, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and K. K. Raina. Its story details are unclear, but a trailer is indeed out right now, which spends more time on telling us that Utkarsh is the same kid from Gadar now grown up, than it does on conveying what the film is going to be all about.

Genius is slated to get a solo release on August 24.
