Padma Shri Hariharan has added plenty of honours to his name over the course of his career. He is an established ghazal singer, a fusion artist, a Bollywood playback singer and more importantly, has sung songs in various languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Bhojpuri and Telugu. Music director Ismail Darbar gave us an unforgettable album in the form of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Hariharan was part of it due to the song Jhoka Hawa Ka, which is a beautifully composed track that stirs up the right emotions in you.

Ay Hairathe – Guru

This one comes from Mani Ratnam’s 2007 flick, Guru which was well appreciated for its music. Ay Hairathe is actually derived from an Amir Khushroo poem, and is an incredibly romantic song.

Ek Duje Ke Vaaste Song – Dil To Pagal Hai

A duet Hariharan sang along with Lata Mangeshkar, Ek Duje Ke Vaaste formed the heart of Yash Chopra’s Dil To Pagal Hai. The song has a charming melody to it which is hard to get out of your head once you listen to it.

Bharat Hum Ko Jaan Se Pyaara Hain – Roja

It’s hard to fathom that someone making their debut as a music director could compose such a song. AR Rahman absolutely killed it with his debut album Roja, and Bharat Hum Ko Jaan Se Pyaara Hain was a highlight. Sung by Hariharan, it fills you up with patriotism in an instant.

Kitni Baatein – Lakshya

Lakshya was a brilliant film, and also had an excellent soundtrack that was composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy. Kitni Baatein is a song about sadness and longing, and Hariharan, along with Sadhna Sargam, has put the right emotions into it with his singing.

Nahin Samne – Taal

One more time Hariharan created magic along with AR Rahman. Nahin Samne sounds almost divine with its soft musical arrangement and brilliant vocal performances by Hariharan and Sukhwinder Singh.
