Welcome To New York’s New Song Has Diljit Dosanjh & Sonakshi Sinha Grooving To Mika’s Voice

Mika's voice is as refreshing as ever

After releasing the energizing Pant Mein Gun song, the makers of the upcoming Welcome to New York have now outed a new song from the film called Meher Hai Rab Di. Sung by Mika Singh and Khusboo Grewal, this track has the film’s lead pair Diljit Dosanjh and Sonakshi Sinha dancing their hearts out.

It’s Mika’s trademark singing style that ends up being the main appeal of this song, and that’s probably the only reason you’ll remember it. That’s because there’s nothing special in it other than that. Meet Bros, who have composed it, have used traditional bhangra beats, and the tune too is not very extraordinary.

The music video you can spot in the space below only features the male part of the song, sung by Mika. The female part is present in the full song which can be listened to on all major streaming platforms. In the full song, Khushboo Grewal’s heavy voice adds quite some heft to the track. It’s the singers that end up saving this song in the end.

The film is only a few days away from its release, and is already mired in a controversy. Singer Babul Supriyo recently called for a blanket ban on Pakistani artists in Bollywood, and asked the makers of Welcome to New York to re-record a song sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, with an Indian singer.

Directed by Chakri Toleti, this film tells the story of Teji (Diljit Dosanjh) who is a disordered recovery agent, and Jeenat Patel (Sonakshi Sinha) who’s a fashion designer. Their lives meet when they inadvertently become part of a big Bollywood event in New York.

When the film’s trailer was released, it grabbed a lot of attention for the ensemble cast it has assembled. Apart from Diljit and Sonakshi, it also stars Riteish Deshmukh and Karan Johar. Moreover, the list also includes Lara Dutta, Boman Irani, Sushant Singh Rajput, Aditya Roy Kapur and Rana Daggubati. But that’s not all; there are a ton of cameos by other big stars as well.

The film releases on February 23 all over India.
