Sometimes your relationship gets in the way of your friendships. It’s not that difficult to believe, is it? Here are some tell-tale signs your relationship is hampering your friendships:

Your S.O. Wants All Your Time!

Setting priorities is good. But you must have room for others!

Every day as soon as a slot opens up, you see it being fast-filled by the same party: your partner. You love spending time with them, but how much is too much? Do you see that this actually leaves no time for you to even consider penning down someone else like your friends? If that’s the case, it’s time you make a plan in advance with your friends and you see how your partner responds to it.

The Fights Over Friends Are Inevitable

You partner is apparently not okay with you hanging out with your friends.

Say you do manage to execute a chilling sesh with your pals, how does the S.O. react to it? Is it an encouraging ‘have fun tonight babe, call me if you need anything’ or a snubbed ‘cool, let me know when you can talk.’ When you do notice such a behavior, don’t ignore it and put it in the ‘deal with it later’ box. These traits are toxic, don’t let it slide.

Your Friends Will Complain

When your friends start complaining when you don’t show up to events and parties, take it as a wakeup call. They want to see more of you. If you’re busy with work, make it a point to take time out for your old friends. All work and no play makes for a dull Jack. However, if you are able to make time for your partner between all this and no one else, that isn’t the most positive thing either. Balance is the key, my friend.

You Feel The Guilt Of Not Hanging Out

You want to. But you can’t. It’s killing you inside.

You see your friends hanging out all the time without you while you scroll your social media cuddling on the sofa watching bae’s favorite movie again. While it’s a good thing to know what your priorities are, what’s with the guilt? While your partner is the most important person in your life, it’s not a sin to spend time with friends.

You See That You Have No Recent Fun Memories With Your Friends To Celebrate

When you’re on a table with friends retelling those crazy tales, are you in them or are you just “oh yeah I was busy that night, right.” That sucks, please just admit it. Get to the root of that. What is life without some unthinkable things to do and narrating those stories in years to come? With the same one person, you won’t be able to create so many memories, would you? Let your friends take some of that pressure. :)))

When you’re in a relationship, everyone goes through this dilemma where they have to choose this or that. How you make your way through it defines how well you can balance the friendships and relationship in your life.
