Harsh Thakkar Shares His Experience For Anyone Planning A Trip To Canada

Canada is a country that is often ignored when travellers prepare their bucket-list for international destinations. But the country with the highest number of Indian diaspora is a beautiful place, with many perks and charms.

Harsh Thakkar, a traveller by passion and a sales representative by profession, went to Canada four month ago. He has since explored many cities and shares his experience to help plan your first trip there.

Harsh says, “One of the best things about Canada is the people. They are warm and friendly, wherever you go. There are no traces of racism. Because of its mixed diaspora, from various countries, there is acceptance of all cultures. In that sense, Canada is very apt for Indians travellers abroad.”

He says that in terms of preparation, travellers don’t need to plan much. Especially, if you are travelling in the summer months, from March to September, then Canada is not very arduous. Only it can be expensive, so you have to plan your accommodation and commute well.

Harsh says, “There are many affordable AirBNBs in almost all places around Canada. And the public transport system is very decent. So, you can take a bus or train or metro to visit any destination. Uber cabs are also prominent, but they can get a little expensive if you are planning a budget trip.”

There are many apps that help travellers with transport in Canada, like Transit. They give you all information about cost, arrival, departure and other detailed information. Such apps have made first-time travellers to Canada very comfortable.

There are many Indian restaurants, which is not surprising considering that Punjabi has now been declared a national language. But Harsh adds that Indian eateries are a little expensive, and it does harm to try the local cuisine. Cheap sandwich shops and fast food are your best bet.

In his time there, Harsh has travelled to Calgary, Peterborough, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Kingston, Quebec City, Montreal, Thunder Bay and Vancouver. He says that most travellers to Canada cover the eastern regions of the country. But Canada has something for travellers of all inclinations. It has much to offer, from the icy tundra of the Yukon to rocky beaches of the east coast, the mountains of Calgary to the rainforests of Vancouver.
