Here’s All You Need To Know If You Are Planning A Trip To Cairo

In the months of Ramadan, no place in Cairo serves booze

Cairo – the Paris of the Middle East, is a lovely place to be. One of the major attractions of Cairo are the regal pyramids. Some of the famous ones are Pyramid of Khafre, Pyramid of Khufu, Queens Pyramids of Giza and the Pyramid of Menhaure. If you are planning a trip to Cairo, you need to know a few things before landing there.

Travel Insurance Is A Must

Get a travel insurance from a reputed company and get yourself covered. There is no alternative to this.

It’s Just A Gun

Guns are a common sight in Cairo. You could even spot snipers, but these are for safety reasons. Do not chicken out when you see that hitman with a gun straight out from the video games. There can be convoy with guns, but all for security reasons.

Dress Moderately

You can wear anything, but remember to keep it modest. Guys should avoid shorts and sleeveless tees and vests in the streets. While in resorts, you are free to wear them. Girls should try and wear clothes that goes down below their knees and shoulders. So, girls, get your cotton kurtis out for the Cairo trip, and team them up with jeans. Cairo is a place where a lot of skin show is proscribed. You will attract a lot of glare if you are not dressed moderately.

I think we have all got used to riding Uber all the time. It is such a convenient way to go from Point A to Point B. Fortunately, Uber works in Cairo too. Download the app there, and register. Chances are that your first ride will be free!

Hire A Local Tourist Guide

I usually prefer travelling alone, without a guide. This gives me ample freedom and time to see any place as I would like it. However, Cairo is one difficult place to be, especially if you have not been there before. So, I would strongly recommend you to hire a local guide who is registered there to take you through the city.

Carry a few bottles of water wherever you go in Cairo. Not only would you need it to drink to stay hydrated in the heat, you would also need some to splash on your face and neck under the scorching sun. A trip to Cairo will floor you with the amazing culture, architecture and food. After all this is the place where the Pharaohs walked.
