Couples tell us about their favourite destinations

There are many romantic destinations for Indian couples. From the snow-capped hills of Himalayas to the green waters of Lakshadweep, from the palaces of Jodhpur to the casinos in Goa, Indian couples have many options. But what really makes for a great romantic getaway.

For those romantic walks on the beaches, Goa

Poonam Madkaiker and her husband Kapil do not travel far from home. The couple residing in South Goa love a stroll on the beach. The silence amidst the crashing waves, and the golden sand gives them an opportunity to connect with each other outside their hectic lives. Both are doctors, and they both get really busy. And a simple walk on the beach is enough to rejuvenate this simple couple. Poonam feels that the waves somehow listen to all her woes, and the momentum of the waves sooths her away from routine life.

Usually the destination is assumed to be one for adventure seekers, and those spiritually inclined. But Varsha and Harsh Joshi had a great time at Ladakh. They loved the unique biodiversity. Every turn brought a new landscape before them. Varsha says, “We got some quiet time away from the congested city for ourselves. We explored new places together and reconnected with each other. The Pongong Tso Lake was beautiful, and the travel by road was a delight.”

For the adventurous couples, Phuket

For the foodie couple Lily and Tejus Karnik, Phuket was a great chance to explore a new land, culture and cuisine. The adventurous couple enjoyed walking through the city at night to enjoy the vibrant life there. Both of them enjoy beaches, and Phuket with its green crystal waters was a paradise for them.

So, if you are planning a trip with your partner, these couples have one common advice. Think of a place you both will enjoy, but most importantly, remember often a journey is about the company, and not the destination.
