Contrary to popular belief, you don’t see polar bears walking about in the streets although that’d be surely quite a sight. Svalbard, an archipelago is seriously the place to visit if you love Polar bears.

The currency is Norwegian Krone (NOK). Its value was recently dropped hence you can go easy on your wallet. Not carrying sufficient cash won’t be a trouble as Norway is going cashless like us!

Language won’t be a major hindrance since most Norwegians speak fluent English.

It is advisable to carry some extra layers because the weather in Norway changes frequently. Also, visiting a public place like national parks, would be free of cost.

If you are on a budget trip to Norway it will be a good idea to cook your own food. But also ensure you have a proper salmon meal in Norway before you leave because they are the best in the country!

Norway is a pretty long country and if you are hoping to see the Northern lights you should visit places in the North like Lofoten, Tromso, and Bodo. Also, you must know that they are not visible during summers (mostly June – August).

There are considerable differences between North and South Norway. While the South is warm and replete with coasts, the North is filled with arctic landscapes.

During winters(December to early March), Northern Norway is likely to experience 24 hours of darkness while it’s just the opposite in the summer months.

Few places you cannot miss if you are in Norway include Bryggen, Berge, Lofoten Islands, Pulpit Rock, Ålesund, Geirangerfjord etc. The Hurtigruten coastal ferry takes you on one of the most amazing coastal rides ever across the globe and you cannot miss out on that. Jotunheimen is the ideal place to go hiking. Of course, you cannot miss the capital city Oslo, especially if you have watched the movie Oslo, August 31st.
