Hitting the roads with your pets? I know how difficult it gets to leave your pets behind when you decide to go for a vacation. Aren’t those the times we get time to spend more hours with our lovelies? Gear up and get set go. Just keep in mind a few things before you set on the road trip.

Contact The Vet A Week Before

You should take your pet to the vet a week before you leave for the trip. Get a general check up done for your pet. Ask for any tips that the vet has to offer. You could also ask them about any specific query that you have in your mind.

Take Frequent Breaks For Your Pets To Stretch

As you drive with your pets take some 15-30 minutes breaks every 3-4 hours. This way you will allow your pets to stretch a bit and run about for a while before they hop in to the car again. Also stop at places if you think your pet is getting a bit fidgety. Anirban Brahma, a renowned wedding photographer, loves to go on road trips with his dog. He shared, “Long drives can be tiring for pets. I take frequent breaks when I travel with my dog, Kuttush. Over the years, I have learnt that steady driving often helps him to go on longer without breaks. Yet, breaks are necessary. I often stop for 10-20 minutes to give him some food and a few treats occasionally. And, yes… Do not forget to offer your pets enough water while on a road trip.”

Pack A Bag For Your Pet

Packing a separate bag for your pet is fun! Trust me. And, it is convenient too, to find all their things in one place. While you pack do not forget:

  • Food and food bowl
  • Water, water bottle and bowl
  • LeashToys for chewing and fetching
  • Medications
  • Protective clothing
  • Dog-safe insect repellent and sunscreen
  • Water googles
  • Blanket and dog towe
  • Brush and shampoo
  • Flea comb and tick remover
  • Poop bags
