A petite beach is a perfect way to describe this tiny but gorgeous beach in Goa. Not many know about this beach which is hidden in the north of Palolem beach.
The Butterfly beach is one of the most beautiful beaches in South Goa. The landscape is unique forming a semicircle and is surrounded by a dense forest.It’s a haven especially for those who love nature and a bit of solitude. It’s away from the maddening crowd ( Yes! Even Goa seems to be overcrowded these days) and all the noise. Totally untouched and scenic.

The surrounding trees in the forest attract a variety of butterflies occasionally and it’s probably why the beach is named Butterfly beach. Another reason could also be its shape, that almost looks like a butterfly! It’s the perfect place to go on a romantic date and to watch the sunset holding hands. The best part about the beach is that it is not accessible easily and hence no vehicles can be spotted anywhere close to it.

The only way to reach to this treasure of a place is either by trekking through the forest or via a boat from Palolem or Agonda. You can rent a boat from one of these beaches. For people who enjoy a trek, this is a beautiful place to do so as you might just get lucky and be able to spot some beautiful butterflies along the way.

Besides the butterflies, this beach is also known for Dolphin spotting. During low tide, the sea water recedes and bring sea crabs, sea urchins and many varieties of fish out onto the wet sand along the beach line.The only thing to keep in mind is that unlike the other tourist populated beaches in Goa, the Butterfly Beach has no touristic infrastructure at all, so it’s safer to carry some food, water and other essentials you might need if you’re planning to spend a quiet time at this calm and serene beach.
