If you love the beaches then Myanmar is a perfect place to explore, it has untouched pristine beaches that are sure to make it very difficult for your want to come back from! It is a place that you should add to your bucket list for sure. Though every time we think beach, we in India think Goa because of it’s proximity, but Goa has been overdone, it’s nice to explore another country.

Myanmar also was known as Burma is one of the inexpensive international destinations. Besides beaches, there are also beautiful temples to see in Myanmar. We’ve put together a list of places that you must not miss if you’re visiting Myanmar.

Ngapali

If you want to experience the local fishing village life in Myanmar, with white sand beaches, it’s beautiful.The local restaurants serve the days catch and you can take a drive around in ox-carts instead of taxis. Best time to visit is the cooler winter months from November to March.

Shwedagon Pagoda

Here all that glitters is gold and diamonds! This pagoda sits at an impressive 360 feet high and is encrusted with 4531 diamonds; the largest of which is a 72-carat diamond. It is believed to contain relics of the four previous Buddhas of the present Kalpa and is the most sacred Buddhist site. It is believed that eight strands of hair from the head of Gautama are among the relics found here. The best time to visit this pagoda is either during sunrise or sunset, it’s unbelievably beautiful.

Inle Lake

This is one of the most visited it’s a top tourist attraction. You can take a day’s trip on this beautiful natural lake, along the way the boat stops at small workshops which are built on stilt, they take you through pagodas and sometimes a floating market and you can get a glimpse of villagers tending to their floating vegetable gardens.

Mrauk U

The town that looks like a fort, the walls of which were built to protect the temples from the winds. It takes about four- to seven-hour on the boat to get there up a tributary of the Kaladan River. The region gets almost 4 feet of rain annually. The wettest months are from May to September so if you love the rains then that’s the time to be there.

Taung Kalat

Built atop an extinct volcano plug, the Buddhist monastery of Taung Kalat is one of the most breathtaking sites in Burma. To reach the monastery, visitors must climb the 777 steps to the summit. From the top of Taung Kalat, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the ancient city of Bagan and also the huge conical peak of Mount Popa. The one thing you need to be careful about here is your valuables because of the monkeys that roam around freely here.

Golden Rock

You might think that the boulder is about to fall off the edge, the boulder is covered in gold leaf and so is the cliff. It appears as if the boulder is about to fall off the cliff. The locals believe the boulder is held in place by a miracle of Buddha as the pagoda is said to contain a strand of his hair. It is the third most important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma. Women are permitted only in the outer balcony and the lower courtyard of the rock located in Mon State, the Golden Rock is something you shouldn’t miss.

Bagan

Bagan has the most Buddhist pagodas, temples, and stupas the famous Ananda temple with its sparkling gold spires is also located here. Bagn is located in central Myanmar. Unlike the other cities in Myanmar, Bagan does not experience a rainy season and any time of the year is a good time to visit Bagan.
