  • Plan your itinerary well in advance. Scan the list of holidays for the year and apply for your leaves as soon as you can.
  • Look for travel options in work. Check with your boss if there is something you can take care of that involves you traveling to other places.
  • Travel around weekends and be open to taking smaller trips instead of only waiting to take the longer ones. This way, you will still be able to satisfy your urge to travel, instead of waiting for those long travel days that mean more days away from work.
  • Stay connected. Try and incorporate some travel dates in a manner that you can work from a remote location even if you are in a different place.

Rita Roy, owner of “Rita Roy’s Yoga and Holistic Center” has a bug for travel. While she was not able to travel much in the corporate world, she has now found an interesting way to balance her work as well as her travels. “Traveling brings a change in regular life and lets me take a break every now and then. Therefore, for me, the urge to travel is like a lust that I always have to balance with my regular duties and my love for pleasure. Whenever I take breaks, my productivity and output quality increases exponentially. My students are pre-informed of my planned leaves and I give them access to my Center, so that they can come and do their workouts. I always come back with a lot of energy, positivity and bliss that helps me work more and more towards my routine goals.”

If you’re regularly facing a tussle between work life and the need to go travel, talk to your boss and find out a way that can help balance it better.
