5 Unforgettable Avatars of Kajol, We All Love

Gifted and outstanding in all avatars

She’s busy gearing up for her next film, VIP 2 with Dhanush, which is all set to hit the theatres on 11 August.  As she turns another year younger today, here’s a list of our favourite Kajol films for you:

1. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai:

This tops our list of favourites. In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kajol plays the role of the total tomboy, Anjali, and looks adorably convincing. She also won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress for the film.

2. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge:

Kajol’s role as the simple, lovable, Simran, in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, will go down in history, not only because it is India’s longest running film, but almost every girl child born around the time the film, released was named Simran. I know five of them!

3. Dushman:

Not many would be able to pull off the two totally different characters she portrayed in Dushman. Kajol plays twins; Sonia and Naina in this film. While Sonia is full of life and outgoing, Naina is quiet and shy. She pulled off a revenge drama and a challenging double role with ease.

4. Fanaa:

Kajol as a Kashmiri girl, Zooni in Fanaa, is another role that she pulled off with so much conviction. She plays the role of a beautiful blind and independent girl in the film. This film is special as this was a kind of comeback film for her after a long gap. It was refreshing to see her back.

5. Gupt:

Her role in Gupt, came as a surprise for all her fans and those who had watched her earlier in Bazigaar, Yeh Dillagi, Hulchul, Karan Arjun etc. No one would have thought she would do a negative role at that point of her career as no other actress at that time had done a negative role. She plays the villain in this suspense thriller. She made negative look beautiful.
