This handsome hero has been the apple of a million eyes since his very inception in Bollywood. From being the drunken lover in Aashiqui 2 to the devoted boyfriend in Ok Jaanu, we are certain that Aditya Roy Kapur has some real talent hidden in himself.

He started off his career as a VJ on Channel V and his first step in Bollywood was with a small and insignificant one, in London Dreams, which released in 2009. After that he was seen predominantly in supporting roles in Action Replayy (2010) and Guzaarish (2010). Maybe it was the lack of a better script which was keeping him from his share of fame and glory in B-town. So, Aashiqui 2 was his lucky charm. This romantic drama brought him to the limelight, and there has been no looking back since then. We still remember the passion in his eyes when Arijit Singh hummed “Ab Tum Hi Ho” and it still touches our hearts just the same.

As the Aashiq turns 33 today (16 November 2018), here are some of his performances which left an indelible mark on us.

The Drunken Lover In Aashiqui 2

This is the remake of the American film of 1954, A Star is Born. The movie is a tear jerker as Rahul, played by Aditya Roy Kapur, falls in love with Arohi, played by Sharaddha Kapoor, who is a budding musician. Aashiqui 2 weaves a heart-wrenching tale of love and how Rahul takes Arohi to the pinnacle of success, while he himself succumbs to alcoholism.

The Lover And The Artist In Fitoor

Fitoor saw Aditya in a unique kind of an intense role

Based on Dickens’ Great Expectations, Fitoor portrays the love story that develops between Noor, played by Katrina Kaif and Firdaus played by Aditya Roy Kapur. It’s a love story that begins in the beautiful backdrop of Kashmir and culminates at the same peaceful place and the movie is definitely more Bollywood than an adaptation of the classic novel. Though the movie received mixed reviews, the performance of Aditya had been praised by one and all.

The Best Friend In Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Aditya’s role in this movie was short but had a great impact

This Ayan Mukherjee movie is not just a romantic comedy. It is also a story of the ambitious Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) and the laid-back Avi (Aditya Roy Kapur). Aditya played the role of Ranbir’s best friend in the movie. Though they haven’t been the perfect example of the “Ram Lakshman ki jodi”, they have proved it that if the roots of friendship are strong, then nothing comes in between. Though Aditya did not have a lead role in the movie, we did go “Aww!” as we saw Bunny and Avi patching up.

The Modern Lover In OK Jaanu

OK Jaanu saw Aditya playing a dedicated lover again, but with a difference

Though the movie got all the fame for the Hamma song, the remake of this Tamil movie, left a mark on us because of the romantic sweet relationship between Adi and Tara, played by Aditya and Shraddha Kapoor respectively. The movie features a no strings attached story between the two lovers but as all Bollywood movies follow, no strings attached do not pan out for Adi and Tara and they embark on to the journey of their ambitions after tying the knot.

Now with movies like Kalank and Sadak 2 in his kitty, this dream boy surely has a long way to go.
