Ayan Mukerji’s superhero movie Brahmastra is already creating an impact before it’s even released. The film stars Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor and also features Big B although Ayan’s spirit actor continues to be Ranbir. Although Bollywood’s past involvements with superhero movies didn’t go well (Remember RaOne? Well we don’t blame you if you don’t), this movie might just change that, especially with the latest addition in its already interesting cast- Akkineni Nagarjuna.

If you don’t happen to remember him as well, don’t worry. The actor had gone MIA from the Bollywood industry for a good period of time now. But let me help you here, you cannot have possibly forgotten the song Tum Mile Dil Khile from the movie Criminal, right? Yes, when speaking of Nagarjuna, that’s possibly the fondest memory we happen to get back to. Nagarjuna will reportedly play an important role in this Ayan Mukerji movie, but nothing has yet been officially announced so we just have to wait. But maybe with great actors on one hand and the Telugu superstar on the other, Brahmastra will be Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus. After LOC Kargil (2003), Nagarjuna returns to Bollywood after so many years to share screen with favorite actor and friend Amitabh Bachchan with whom he had starred earlier in movies like Khuda Gawah (1992).
The movie is the first installation in a fantasy adventure trilogy into the making of which Ayan has dedicated all his energy and creativity. The director has openly asked the audience to expect the unexpected when it comes to costumes or even the basic idea of the movie. The film is based on the ancient concepts of energy, wisdom and powers not unlike the ones you find in Indian epics. Who’d have thought paying attention in history classes could be beneficial in this way?

The film will release sometime the following year. A lot of hard work goes into the making of any film especially movies that deal with fantasy and superheroes. And we know this time we will witness something very different. The cast consisting of Alia, Ranbir and Big B already look pretty convincing as well. Honestly, aren’t you fed up with the clichéd item songs and sappy rom-coms? We cannot wait to watch something “hatke” in our big screens.
