T-Series has RECENTLY launched Gippy Grewal’s latest Punjabi release “Sooraj”, which features a father-son relationship in the background of an infidel relationship. Rupinder Singh Grewal, aka Gippy Grewal had debuted with his album “Chakkh Lai”, and continued to produce other hits such as “Phulkari”, “Nasha”, “Phulkari 2 Just Hits” and “Gangster”.

“Sooraj” has been sung by Gippy Grewal, the lyrics and music of which have been composed by Janni and B. Praak respectively. The music video features Gippy Grewal as the lead protagonist. Shinda Grewal, Gippy’s son, has played his son in the music video too. Navpreet Banga the YouTube sensation who was once called a Priyanka Chopra look-alike, plays the role of the female protagonist. The video has been directed by Baljit Singh Deo and assisted by Jag Samra. The whole song revolves around a normal family that has been torn apart by betrayal.
The music video begins with a monologue from an angry and tormented Gippy Grewal and moves on to the song which shows Gippy in his truck, reminiscing about the happy times he spent with his family. The short speech at the beginning of the video, shows Grewal saying to himself that it is better for him to die in such a situation, of which we are unclear about until the video begins. In the end, Grewal discovers that his wife has been cheating on him with another man, about which he had been suspicious for quite some time. Unfortunately, he is shot by own wife and is mourned by his young son at the end of the video.
Being a heartbreak song, Grewal says that his love was never reciprocated, and that he has lost his own existence in the process. The most heartbreaking part comes at the end of the video where his son sees his dying father on the ground. The video ends with Grewal requesting his wife to not pass on her negative qualities to her son, and the message, ‘Never Sacrifice Your Family, Your Heart, Your Dignity Above The Future of Your Children’.
Gippy Grewal’s “Sooraj” thus explores the harsh consequences of a broken family, and sends out an important message that is truly relevant to our society, that your children are your first priority above everything else.
