Biopics have become the recent shizz of tinsel town. After giving us countless movies of good substance and an even greater storyline, Bollywood does not deter from recounting history and telling the tales of the ones who made history. Be it Sanju, which gave birth to myriad questions in our mind about the blame game played with Sanjay Dutt or Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi, which took us back to the pages of history and revived the spirit that follows along with women empowerment, biopics are indeed doing great in B town.

Other than movies, there is another thing that India thrives on, and that is cricket. And when we talk about cricket, we should never miss the name of the legendary cricketer, Kapil Dev. He was the one who made India proud by bringing home the trophy of the World Cup in the historic year of 1983. It is only fair that Bollywood weaves the tale of this legend for he was the one who made our country immensely proud. There are still a lot of cricket fans and players who look up to him as a god.

’83 will be a biopic on Kapil Dev and the first poster of the movie was released precisely a year before the release of the movie. The poster calls to mind all those days when a world cup cricket match would be more important than anything else, especially with someone as Kapil Dev on the pitch. The poster features our very own Ranveer Singh, who walks into the shoes of the living legend, R Badree, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, Chirag Patil, Saqib Saleem, Tahir Bhasin and Saahil Khattar, who are all dressed as cricketers, exuding the world cup vibes. Ranveer Singh in the poster is in his usual high energy mode, who is sitting at the center with his bat.

It was Ranveer Singh who took to Instagram to let his Instfam know about this illustrious poster, with a caption that read, “One year from today, relive India’s greatest story.” Apparently, he is as excited as the fans to be playing the role of Kapil Dev and bringing to the audience all about the life story of the living legend.

There was another video which went viral all across the internet, which showed the director of the movie, Kabir Khan and Ranveer Singh and some other members of the film undergoing tough training to prepare for their respective roles.

With so much devotion and of course, the blessings of Kapil Dev, the movie is surely going to be one of the greatest hits of Indian cinema. ’83 will release on 10th April 2020.
