Let’s help you solve the dilemma of keeping your relationship off the grid. (Or not)

In the age of social media, we share almost everything with the rest of the world. From our morning coffee to pictures of a midnight snack and everything in between are all out there on our Instagram and Snapchat for the world to see. The question here is- does your relationship fall under the same category? Let’s see what you need to know before you show off your beau to the digital universe:

Private Vs. Secret

Understand the difference between privacy and secrecy!

There is a vast difference between keeping your romance shielded from prying eyes in comparison to keeping it invisible. The fact that you’re in love with someone shouldn’t be hidden. It can be protected but facts shouldn’t be lied about. For instance, if you choose to not put pictures with your partner, your social media shouldn’t indicate that you’re single or in a relationship with someone else either. That could harm your relationship even more.

You Expose Your Sacred Relationship To Unnecessary Opinion

There is always a line you should try not to cross

By constantly putting your relationship out there, you are inviting the world into your personal space. “Oh he’s shorter than her,” “Oh, she’s so fat,” and even “They don’t even look good together.” And more often than not, it starts getting to you. You begin to view your relationship from a social lens, which is not the way it should be. You know your partner and your relationship better than a certain common friend, right?

Putting It Out There Is A ‘Declaration’

A picture with our bestie, one with our family, one of our dog and one with your beau – it needs to have all the elements of your life for people to know. Keeping all the cons aside, a picture here and there with your partner is just a way to let people know you’re in love or you’re still in a relationship with them. No judgments here, but one should always be consciously aware of what is being uploaded because once it is on the internet, it is out there forever.

Are You Seeking The Internet’s Validation?

Show the internet your back and create your own moments if its validation what you seek.

Have you ever noticed that whenever you wish to show your love towards your partner, it often comes out in a paragraph long post on Instagram? While it certainly isn’t a crime, but have you ever noticed why is our first instinct to tell the world about it instead of maybe doing something sweet for your partner that only the both of you could enjoy? A little old school, yes, but isn’t a relationship only a two-party contract?

Breaking Up On The Internet

Imagine you put a picture with your partner every other day and even @realDonaldTrump all the way across the world knows you and some Raj dated. When you break up with someone, every post about them gets wiped off your feed. Again, an action that invites people to poke their nose in your business! Imagine if you’d never posted about your relationship, there would be one less facet of emotional detachment to deal with.

I am not suggesting anything here, just laying down the facts for you. It is for you to decide, what’s right and what’s wrong.
