Guess What Prabhas Asked Shraddha Kapoor When She Met Him For The First Time?

In an exclusive interview with HFT Shraddha tells us all

Shraddha Kapoor is riding high these days, with two upcoming biopics in her kitty; Haseena Parkar and Saina Nehwal and also a film with the Baahubali fame superstar Prabhas called Sahoo. She’s been a busy girl; between travelling from city to city to promote Haseena Parkar, that releases on 22 September, to rushing to Hyderabad to meet her co stars from the other two films. Taking out time from her busy schedule, Shraddha managed to talk to HFT about her character, Haseena and waht went into the making of the film and shared her excitement about her other two films too.

Playing Haseena

She looks absolutely unlike the glamorous Shraddha Kapoor in the posters of Haseena, so we can’t help but ask her how she managed to do that. and how she prepared for the role. Sharddha tells us that this is very different from what she has ever done before. She says that the film has been very emotionally draining. But she doesn’t mind that one bit as what’s interesting is that it’s new. She gives full credit to her director Apoorva Lakhia for preparing her for the role. “Apoorva was very involved in the research of the film, he gave us all the material that helped us to do our job to the best. He had done his homework thoroughly, so I spent time listening to the stories he told us about Haseena. Stories about her as a person, her family life, the way she spoke, her behaviour, the way she sat, her the tone of her voice etc.” says Shraddha.

While Shraddha wishes she had got to meet Haseena too, she did spend time with her family.”Apoorva told me to spend time with her family so I did that but the rest of the research about her character was done by him.” In the film, Shraddha who normally has a shrill voice had to tone it down and make it more base. “My voice still sound sthat way even after wrappingup the film, some characters can rub off on you,” says Shraddha.

Working on the look of Haseena

She gained around 7 to 8kgs for the film, though she was supposed to gain even more but she couldn’t because of her high metabolisim rate. Besides gaining those extra kilos, she had to use prosthetics and body padding to get the look. “I wanted my jawline to disappear, and even though it’s much easier to gain weight, in my case it didn’t happen much even though I gorged on everything from biryani to gulab jamuns, burgers, pizzas, etc,” she informs (Why is god so unfair! I ask to myself, I seem to gain weight by drinking plain water too!)

Playing a 45 year old mother

We’ve been mostly used to watching Shraddha in cheerful bubbly roles in most of her earlier films. For Haseena she plays someone who’s almost double her age and ot only that but also a mother to two teenage kids. “I had no apprehensions at all playing someone older, but yes I had apprehensions to do better, I wanted to do better and better. I want to give my best especially when my directors belive in me and say; You can do it. I have a lot of self doubt whether I will be able to do justice, that’s when I go to my mum and she tells me to keep going, that keeps me motivated too,” states Shraddha.

On the challenges she faced as Haseena Parkar

“Any role comes with its own set of challenges and film making is like a mammoth procedure, long process, there are so many people involved. The very challenge of making a film is never highlighted and people need to know about it, every film comes with so many different challenges. But yes playing Haseena was emotionally draining because the scenes are very emotional. Sometimes real life emotions take over your reel emotions too,” says Shraddha. She also informs us that after twrapping up the film, she went on a holiday to Italy to get out of the character.

During our interview, her real life brother Siddhanth, who also plays her reel life brother Dawood Ibrahim in Haseena Parkar, interrupts to say bye to her and it’s interesting to hear the two converse in Marathi. We also get to know that Sharddha’s called Rani at home. They are the first real life brother sister pair to be working in a Bollywood film ever. “It was great to do a movie with my brother, when we are old we will look back and say Hey! we did a movie together, that will be so cool,” smiles Shraddha.

Working with Prabhas

Shraddha recently met Baahubali fame Prabhas, her co –star for her next film, Sahoo, in Hyderabad. She was in Hyderabad to rehearse her scenes with him and she came back learning so much more she says. “ I was absolutely taken in by how humble and down to earth he is. He’s such a big star but he showed no signs of that as a person,” gushes Shraddha.

Shraddha says that the first question Prabhas asked her when they met was “have you eaten? Are you hungry? And that’s when she was sure that they two of them would get along famously! “that She instantly knew she would get along well with him. “I knew I was going to get along with him really well, because he asked me about food. I was like I am almost always hungry and he fed us the most delicious food,” shares Shraddha.

Saina

Shraddha who is equally excited about playing Saina Nehwal says, “Sania is another amazing character. When I met her for the first time, she was so into the game, I was in complete awe! I walked into the court and she was full on into the game and it was surreal. She is our country’s hero meeting her was surreal. I couldn’t believe that I am going to play this hero.”

We’re looking forward to watch her play all the different characters. Team HFT wishes her all the best for Haseena Parkar.
