Here’s Why Director Luv Ranjan Is Loved By His Actors!

Luv Ranjan talks about the unusual title; Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and more

When I asked director Luv Ranjan’s cast, Nushrat Bharucha, Kartik Aryan and Sunny Nijar what if they had to choose between a film by a big director and a film by Luv Ranjan, all three of them didn’t even take a second to think and answer, “Luv Ranjan Sir!” That’s the amount of love and respect his cast and crew have for him. Which obviously is not surprising because Luv Ranjan is one of the most honest and straight forward directors I’ve interviewed so far besides being extremely talented.

It is always a pleasure conversing and discussing his films, his style of shooting etc.

About The Unusual Title; Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety

Before people even see the film, they start relating to the names. They know the names of the characters, so the recall is better. They know exactly who the characters are and what the film is about.

About His Style Of Making His Trailers

What you see in the trailer is half the film, the point is how do you make it interesting without giving too much of the film. Always make a trailer in such a way that the audience does not get underwhelmed when they watch the trailer and come out watching the film. I don’t hype my film in the trailer itself, while it’s easy to sustain that in a 3-minute trailer and not so easy to do so in a 3-hour film! So that’s the reason I feel don’t raise the expectations of the film in the trailer itself. The factor that has helped my trailers work is that the characters are very relatable and the story is a normal story. Just a kind of story you might not have seen before but something everyone can relate to. I am hoping the same helps the film too.

Pyaar Ka Punchnama was very popular among the youth

About The Generous Use Of The ‘C’ Word In Pyaar Ka Punchnama

Unlike Pyaar Ka Punchnama which was not exactly a family film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety is a family film. Talking about the ‘C……’ word in Pyaar Ka Punchnama, people have heard more gaalis than the ones that they might hear in the film. When two friends are casually talking to each other too, it’s a very common thing that is said without meaning anything. The word has no meaning but the word is irreplaceable! It’s like the F word, people use it like a slang even if they mean nothing about it. Have you seen two good friends talking with a lot of respect when they converse with each other, especially the boys? That’s exactly what I have shown in the film.

About Box Office Numbers

Yes, Box Office numbers do matter to me because it facilitates filmmaking.I believe that whatever film I make should do enough business so that it facilitates the next film that you want to make. It’s also not only about money, but we also get an insight into how many people have seen your film. That gives you a satisfaction as a filmmaker.

Aakash Vani was liked by critics but did not do well at the box office

About Difficulties, He Faced After The Debacle Of Akaash Vani

When you deliver a hit film, the process of your next film becomes faster but when your film does not do well at the box office, however good a filmmaker you may be, the next film takes longer. But I was lucky because all the people who watched Akaash Vani said the film was good so I did not get erased completely from the map but it puts a question mark on the financial aspect of your filmmaking and it takes a little more time to convince the people for the kind of budget you want for your film. It is a natural process so no complaints.

About His Style Of Shooting His Films At Leisure

I eat, I cook, I am a huge foodie and a slob so I love to cook, eat, sleep, watch films and laze around. I have never finished a film in 3 months, I don’t like to exhaust myself. My logic is that when I come to the set to shoot, I don’t want to be tired and exhausted and shoot the film just for the heck of shooting. I don’t want to exhaust myself to a point where it starts feeling like work, I would rather take those two months extra, be relaxed and happy and shoot my films.

Another thing is that the crew cannot speak but I can, as the schedule moves on, people are tired and they become less efficient so work also becomes slow and the quality and focus is compromised, with breaks in between shoots people come back refreshed and shoot happens faster too.

If more bosses thought and worked like Luv Ranjan, work like he says wouldn’t seem like work, It would be a pleasure! Here’s Wishing him all the success for Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.
