The trailer everyone has been waiting for was finally released and what a spectacular trailer it is! This was the moment everyone from the fans, the audience and the stars had been waiting for but surprisingly the main man of Dharma Productions, Karan Johar was MIA!
Karan, who normally hosts most of the launch of his films, himself, and loves to introduce his stars and talk about his film, was missing in action at the trailer launch of his soon to be released film, Kalank. It felt a little strange at first, but Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan slipped into Karan’s shoes and hosted it like professionals minus the toodels! Alia informed everyone about why Karan could not be present at the launch. “Karan Sir had to be in Singapore to unveil his wax statue. All the best to Karan Sir,” said Alia who looks gorgeous in the film.
“This is the biggest motion film for Alia and me. We have never hosted any show or event together before,” informed Varun. Alia made Varun walk out of the stage and make an entry again so she could introduce him properly. Varun asked her to do the same too.
They introduced their co-stars, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit, Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Kunal Khemu and Sanjay Dutt, one by one, in an interesting manner with shayaris and ‘shudd’ Hindi. Sonakshi said, “Varun and Alia have taken over the promotions and I am happy.”
Surprisingly, Abhishek Varman, the director of the film was also missing from the trailer launch, which was a big day for all. Sonakshi said, “Abhishek refused to be here since he says he doesn’t talk much so there is no point in being on stage.” To which Varun quickly clarified that Abhishek was busy with the mixing of the film and therefore could not be there at the launch.
Aditya Roy Kapoor who was late as Varun jokingly informed the audience, cleared the air about why he was delayed. “There was a little wardrobe malfunction. My shoulder did not look correct in the outfit and there is no reason for the shoulder to not look correct. One should pay attention to minor details since it’s a big day for us,” said Aditya and Varun and Alia readily agreed to that.
Alia and Varun even tackled all the questions that were thrown to them and their co-stars very professionally without sounding rude or impolite. Even when Sanajay Dutt was asked a question by the media, he said that Varun would answer it on behalf of all of them. Alia seems to have learned the ropes as a host and PR quickly. Towards the end of the launch, she told the media very gently, that they would be taking the last two questions.
The two of them were interactive, fun as well as good at promoting their film. Next time there is an award show or an event, they should definitely choose Alia and Varun to host it as the two share a great rapport and have a good comic timing. They make the events so much more fun and lively with their banter.
