Here’s Why Kangana Ranaut Will Not Support The Deepika Bachao Campaign

Nothing against Deepika but it’s Shabana Azmi to blame

Actress Kangana Ranaut has clearly said that she will not lend her support to the ‘Deepika Bachao’ letter campaign, led by Shabana Azmi. There was a report in some of the leading papers recently stating that Kangana would be joining Katrina Kaif and Shabana Azmi would be travelling to Delhi to submit a letter written to the government asking them to support and protect Deepika Padukone from the threats she has been receiving for the role of Rani Padmavati that she portrays in the film Padmavati, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

However, Kangana has said that she will not be supporting the campaign. The reason she is not in favor of the campaign is that she wants to stay away from the left wing versus right wing politics.

Another reason she states is that Azmi “character assassinated” her when she was being bullied, instead of supporting her. Kangana in an official statement said, “I was filming ‘Manikarnika…’ in Jodhpur, got a call from my dear friend Anushka Sharma to sign the petition written by Ms. Shabana Azmi, I explained to Anushka that Deepika Padukone has all my support but I am a bit wary of Shabana Azmi’s investment in left wing versus right wing politics.”

While the movement is being supported by most of the film fraternity. Kangana wants to have nothing to do with it even though she supports Deepika.”I have my own set of ideas and opinions about the current situation in our country, I am on the fence about many things and being a part of a feminist movement called ‘Deepika Bachao’ lead by someone who characters assassinated me when I was bullied, seems to be one of them. Anushka understood but I am glad they reached out to me like I said Deepika has all my support I am an individual perfectly capable of supporting who I like without anyone s support,” she added.

Padmavati also starring Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh was to release on 1 December but has been postponed further.
