A few months ago, it was speculated that Priyanka Chopra was bidding adieu to Quantico to come back to her roots, to her ‘desh’ and back to Bollywood. The media went into a frenzy when news of Priyanka signing Salman Khan’s Bharat was announced. There were speculations and confirmations and reconfirmations about the same!
Until Priyanka, herself announced that she would be a part of Bharat and that Bharat would be her comeback film. There were even reports about how Priyanka was elated about her character in Bharat etc. Then there were reports of the movie going on floors this August and that the film would be releasing next Eid. That’s not all, Salman too posted a welcome note for Priyanka on his social media.

But just a few days before August, Priyanka dropped a bomb! Yes, Priyanka Chopra has walked out of Bharat. It is being said that Priyanka excused herself and she has a very very special reason for that according to director Ali Abbas Zafar who tweeted; “Yes Priyanka Chopra is no more part of @Bharat_TheFilm & and the reason is very very special , she told us in the Nick of time about her decision and we are very happy for her … Team Bharat wishes @priyankachopra loads of love & happiness for life”

That sure is a broad hint, isn’t it? Thanks to Ali and that hint he dropped, we’re sure people are already planning what to wear for the wedding! There is no official announcement of the wedding yet but we’re sure that will follow soon too. If reports are to be believed, Priyanka and her boyfriend Nick Jonas got engaged on 17 July, Priyanka Chopra’s birthday in London. Nick apparently proposed to Priyanka with a Tiffany’s ring! Seems like the two must have visited India to plan their wedding with family!

While Priyanka excused herself from Bharat, she is happily shooting for another film by the Margarita With A Straw director, Shonali Bose. The film is titled The Sky Is Pink. Director Shonali posted a behind the scenes video on her FaceBook and wrote, “The journey begins; The Sky Is Pink. I’m blessed with a fabulous cast and team.Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Akhtar, Zaira Wasim, Sid Roy Kapoor, Nilesh Maniyar et. all. Very inspired and excited.”
So why is Priyanka ok with The Sky Is Pink and not Bharat?
Shonali Bose’s The Sky Is Pink is said to be a small film, which will have a start to finish schedule finish and will be wrapped up in just a month. Another reason is also that the major part of the film will mostly rest on Zaira Wasim’s shoulder as she plays the main character. Since there are no foreign locations, travel time too will be saved. All these factors leave Priyanka with enough time to plan her big day, and also start shopping for a wedding outfit etc! Had she done Bharat, she would have had to invest more time and would be left with very little or no time to plan her wedding with Nick. Or should we say she would have had to run back for the wedding in the ‘nick of time!’
We are excited to watch her in The Sky Is Pink, but it would have been great to see PC in Bharat too. But now it looks like it will either be Katrina Kaif, Jacqueline Fernandez or Kareena Kapoor Khan who will replace Priyanka for Bharat.
