Teen hearthrob and singer Zayn Malik has been winning the Sexiest Asian Man crown since the last two years but this year he has to unfortunately hand over the crown to our very own Shahid Kapoor!
Shahid topped the 50 Sexiest Asian Men in the world list for the first time, dethroning Zayn. 2017 sure seems to have been a lucky year for Shahid, the year began with him bagging the Best Actor Awards for his role in Udta Punjab and now this!
Shahid who ranked seventh last year, expressed his surprise at topping the list . He said, “I would like to thank everyone who voted for me. I am humbled by the desirable tag. I believe sexy is not only to do with the physical, but as much to do with the mental perspective on life. This one is for all those fans who have loved and supported me.”
The annual list, is based on votes from fans around the world. Millions from around the world voted. While Shahid wins first place, actor Hrithik Roshan ranked second for the third year in a row while Zayn was ranked number 3!
Pakistani star Fawad Khan is the highest placed Pakistani for the second year in a row.
Eastern Eye’s award-winning Entertainment editor Asjad Nazir, who founded the list and compiles it annually, thinks Shahid Kapoor is a worthy winner, citing his increasing profile as a role model as a key factor. He said, “The actor was destined to end the year as a king. It may not have happened with his hotly anticipated, postponed film Padmavati, where he plays a historical monarch, but has with him ruling the 2017 list of sexiest Asian men. Apart from showing off his impressive versatility as an actor and regularly delighting female fans with his chiseled physique, the handsome actor has won the hearts of fans with his devotion to his wife and young child. Being a devoted family man has not only made him even more appealing to women, but also a generation of young men who look up to him.”
Surprisingly Salman Khan is at number 7, TV actor Gurmeet Choudhary, Bollywood star Ranveer Singh and the only sportsman in the list Virat Kohli are at number 10,Ali Zafar at 12, Varun Dhawan at 13, Akshay Kumar at 18, Shah Rukh Khan at 20, Sidharth Malhotra at 23, Prabhas at 26, Ranbir Kapoor at 27, Imran Abbas at 29, Sidhant Gupta at 31, Nakuul Mehta at 35, Atif Aslam at 43 and British singer Arjun at 49.
The youngest in the list and a first timer is 20-year-old singer and musician Danyal Zafar who is also is the younger brother of Pakistani superstar Ali Zafar. at 41. While Actress Priyanka Chopra was named the sexiest Asian woman for the fifth time!
