Four Hindu Actresses Who Married Muslim Men

Thanks to the recent communal chaos in our country, the hatred between different religions in India has reached new heights. However, if we look up to Bollywood, one of the biggest sources of entertainment in our country, there have been quite a number of totally unconventional Hindu-Muslim marriages that have transcended all the traditional boundaries of religion, caste, creed and social status. Here’s a list of Hindu actresses who married Muslim men, and most of them are quite happy marriages.

Popularly known as Saifeena to their fans, the lovebirds met on the sets of Tashan (2010). Kareena was born to a Hindu Punjabi family to actors Randhir and Babita Kapoor, while Saif belonged to a Muslim family of actors Nawab Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore. Both belong to completely different religions, have a huge age gap between them, and Saif had been married previously to now ex-wife Amrita Singh as well. They started dating after Kareena’s bitter breakup with Shahid Kapoor and love gradually started blossoming between them.

Kapoor and Khan finally decided to tie the knot on 16 October, 2012, keeping in mind each other’s religious preferences in mind. While all the women have converted to Islam to marry their Muslim partners in Saif’s family, Kareena chose to keep her religion with the full support of Saif. Their love story shows us that love and tolerance is the only key to a beautiful love story.

Unfortunately, not everyone in our country is so open-minded about an interreligious marriage. Kapoor was recently trolled and called a fake liberal regarding the Asifa rape case – just because she had married a Muslim man, and had named her son Taimur. Fortunately, actress Swara Bhaskar came to her rescue and shut down the trolls with an epic reply.

Though this marriage has fallen apart recently, it did not have anything to do with religious differences, and they did enjoy a fairytale when they were together. They first saw each other when shooting for a coffee commercial, and soon started dating each other. Breaking all religious conventions, they chose to get married in a chapel and that truly shows that love believes in no religion.

Their story wasn’t one of ‘love at first sight’, but there was surely a beginning to it. Singh and Khan had met when working for a Rahul Rawail movie, and first noticed each other when Saif put an arm around Amrita for a picture. Things went ahead, and the couple got married as per both Hindu and Muslim traditions.
