Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma’s recently released film Sui Dhaaga- Made In India is not only being praised by all but their performances have also been getting rave reviews. That’s not all, the film is a huge hit at the box office and has collected 100 crore worldwide in just 7 days!
Sui Dhaga based on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make In India campaign is directed by Sharat Katariya. The film is about a tailor Mauji (Varun) and his wife Mamta (Anushka) and their struggle to establish their own clothing business. This is the first time Varun and Anushka have been paired together for a film and looks like this will be one popular ‘jodi’ and we will be seeing more of them together.
Speaking about the huge success Varun said, “Credibility and the appreciation feels great. Even at the airport during immigration people come and tell me that they loved the film bless u and say they watched the film with their family and that makes all our hard work worthwhile. This film will always be special for me.”

Varun and Anushka have put in a lot of effort for the film and during the shoot there were times they went without water in the heat just to get the look and feel of the characters right. “We were not given umbrellas, ac and sometimes even water. The ADs had been strictly instructed not to give us all those comforts by the director especially in the cycling scene,” laughs Varun.
Anushka too is elated about the huge success and she said, “I am grateful the performance has been appreciated greatly. If this film would not have worked we would have been heart-broken. For an actor, it’s a big thing when they say that they didn’t see Anushka but Mamta when they watched the film. I am glad that I am being appreciated for a film like this.”
While Varun and Anushka have been appreciated by all in the film, there is another actor who has a fan following too now. Varun’s on-screen mother; Yamini aka amma who has no prior experience in acting has given a fabulous performance in the film. She even surprised Anushka and Varun. “When amma started reading I would forget to read my scenes,” said Anushka. While Varun said it was very difficult to believe that Yamini was a first-time actor.

Speaking about her very first acting experience Yamini said, “It was a beautiful experience working with my son Namit who also acts in this film. I have been a homemaker all my life and I had no clue about what it takes to be an actor. The only time I have been closest to acting is when Namit would give me his script n ask me to read it. For Sui Dhaga, I went to give the audition just for fun and here I am today.” When we asked her how she felt about the film doing such great business and crossing the 100 crore mark, she said that she was very happy the film did so well and then in true amma style she went on to add; “The film has done 100 cr business it would be even better if we got a bonus or some of the share too!!” and had the whole audience laughing.
Raghubir Yadav who plays Varun’s father in the film said he was
glad the film has been loved and it has been appreciated even in the small towns. “This will encourage more people to make such films,” he added.
Both Varun and Anushka agreed that a National Award for the film would be great.
