The Much Talked About Bollywood Debuts Of 2018

2018 was indeed a phenomenal year for the Hindi film industry which saw amazing new entrants into the industry and some really sad demises as well. As the Nepotism debate goes on and on in the Bolly scenario, fans were nevertheless always excited to see see faces on screen be it from a well-know Kapoor or Khan clan or from a totally new background. Some of the most talked about debutants Bollywood saw this year includes:

Janhvi Kapoor

About a couple of months through the sudden demise of the veteran actor Sridevi, Janhvi Kapoor’s much awaited movie Dhadak hit the screens. The movie gain quite some attention, especially among the youth. Janhvi’s co-star in the movie, Ishaan Khatter, has also given a promising performance in the movie and Janhvi’s spontaneity caught the positive attention of critics.

Although Ishaan had already gained international fame with Iranian director Majid Majidi’s “Beyond The Clouds” due to his exceptional performance in the movie, his Bollywood debut was with Dhadak, opposite Janhvi Kapoor. Apart from being known to the world as Shahid Kapoor’s half brother, the world now also knows Ishaan and a promising young talent.

Banita Sandhu

Although Shoojit Sircar’s October landed into some trouble due to some plagiarism files, BAnita Sandhu was quite impressive in her debut role. Her role was not a very conventional one yet, Banita did enough justice to it. Fans are eager to see more of her soon.

Utkarsh Sharma

Most of us remember him as the cute little boy of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel in the 2001 super hit movie Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. His comeback as the debutante hero in the movie Genius, directed by his dad Anil Sharma as a much awaited one. Although it did not do that well in the box office, we are hoping to see him do better in years to come.

Mouni Roy

We saw her in TV for the first time as Tulsi Virani’s daughter in the mega serial “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” and later she gain fame for her role in Naagin. Her role as the Bengali bahu Monobina in the movie Gold opposite Akshay Kumar grabbed some good attention.

Aayush Sharma

When talking of debuts, we certainly cannot forget Salman Khan’s biggest launch of the year. Salman launched brother-in-law Aayush Sharma in the movie Love Yatri opposite yet another debutante Warina Hussain. The movie saw a Navratri release and there has been mixed reviews so far.

So that’s quite a bunch of new faces, who have made a mark and have still a long way to go to in the industry.
