Besides Eid and Diwali releases, December is another important month for film releases. Filmmakers make a beeline to book the release dates for most of the festival season and December too is one of them, especially around Christmas and it’s mostly the Khans who release their films around festival time. This year Eid was ruled by Salman Khan who released Race 3, Aamir had a Diwali release with Thugs Of Hindostan and now all attention is on Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero that releases this Christmas.

While Race 3 and Thugs Of Hindostan did not impress the audience and critics alike, we need to wait and see what’s in store for Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. Zero is one of his most-anticipated films of all time and the film has already garnered quite a buzz ever since it was announced. Zero also stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in key roles. This will be the first time that Shah Rukh will be seen in a completely different role as a vertically challenged man. Zero also features cameos from several Bollywood biggies including Salman Khan, Rani Mukerji, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, R Madhavan, Abhay Deol and there is a special appearance from late actor Sridevi which is being kept as a surprise. Zero releases a few days before Christmas on 21 December.

Kedarnath is yet another film that everyone is looking forward to. The film stars Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter Sara Ali Khan who makes her Bollywood debut with the film. All set to release on 7 December, Kedarnath also stars Sushant Singh Rajput as the male lead. Kedarnath is set on the 14 km of pilgrimage from Gaurikund to Kedarnath and is based on the 2013 Uttarakhand Floods that caused a lot of destruction in the area. Sushant and Sara play Mansoor and Mukku. Mansoor is a porter who lives in Uttarakhand with his widowed mother and helps pilgrims make the journey to Kedarnath. When Mansoor and Mukku meet their lives change forever. It’s all about love in the time of tragedy.

The book unveiled many secrets and myths about ex-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will the movie do the same?

December will see 2 movies based on Indian Prime Ministers. One is the Prime Minister is titled Accidental Prime Minister and it stars Anupam Kher as ex-Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The film is based on a book by Sanjaya Baru, who was the media advisor of Manmohan Singh. The book unveiled many secrets and myths surrounding the behavior and decisions of Manmohan Singh after he took the office of the Prime Minister. The film is being directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and is written by Ketan Mehta. The film releases along with Kedarnath on 7 December.

Another film on the issue of open defecation and sanitation problems in our country

The other is Mere Pyaare Prime Minister directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and the film focuses on the issue of open defecation and sanitation problems in our country and also deals with the relationship between a mother and son, The film stars National Award-winning actress Anjali Patil as the mother. The film has been shot in actual real locations. The film was earlier said to release on Gandhi Jayanti but will now release on 14 December.

This will be Sara Ali Khan’s second release in December

The year will end with a bang literally with Rohit Shetty’s Simmba! We all know how Rohit loves blowing up cars and shooting some of the most jaw-dropping action sequences, don’t we? Simmba will be the first collaboration of Karan Johar and Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh who plays the lead role. This will be Sara Ali Khan’s second release back to back too. While Sonu Sood plays a negative role in the movie. The film is all set to hit the theaters on 28 December 2018.
