R. Madhavan has often captured our hearts in his successful acting career, right from his journey from the chocolate boy to the ‘serious man of the show’. His notable Bollywood movies include “Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein” (2001), “Rang de Basanti” (2006), “3 Idiots” (2009) and the “Tanu Weds Manu” series (2011 and 2015), all of which were huge box office hits. As he turns 48 today, 1st June, 2018, let’s go down memory lane to remember the times we have fallen for him in these movies:

Madhav Shastri (Maddy) In “Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein” (2001)

Maddy made almost every girl skip a beat during those days

Though the movie gained popularity over time, Madhavan nailed the role of a wayward college student and a lover in the movie. Even after nearly decades, we are still not over with his cute looks, his efforts to prove his love and his million-dollar smile.

Ajay Rathod In “Rang de Basanti” (2006)

The handsome flight lieutenant we could not get enough of

Who can forget Madhavan’s handsome looks in this movie, as he plays the role of a flight lieutenant? His reserved personality and his on-screen love for Soha Ali Khan’s character Sonia was beautifully depicted on screen in the song “Tu Bin Bataye”.

Farhan Qureshi In “3 Idiots” (2009)

Madhavan played one of the three lead roles in the movie, alongside Aamir Khan and Sharman Joshi. His portrayal of an engineering student with the heart of a wildlife photographer and his fear of disappointing his father is something that many students can actually relate to. We loved his naive and cute spectacled looks.

Manoj ‘Manu’ Sharma In The “Tanu Weds Manu” Series (2011 And 2015)

The shy and soft-spoken doctor we loved dearly

The first movie of the series, “Tanu Weds Manu” (2011) shows R. Madhavan in the role of a lover who is willing to go to any lengths for his ladylove’s happiness. The second movie of the series, “Tanu Weds Manu Returns” (2015) is the next chapter of Tanu and Manu’s married life. Manu perfects the role of a totally frustrated husband, and once again a lover as he gets attracted to Kusum (part of a double-role by Kangana Ranaut). Here we see him as a refined man, a doctor of great character and his shy smile was one to die for!

Madhavan was next seen in the rough-and-tough manly role of Denzel Mascarenhas in Mayank Sharma’s web series “Breathe” on Amazon video (2018). As per recent reports, Madhavan will probably re-unite with his RHTDM co-star Saif Ali Khan for a period drama but this is yet to be confirmed.

Here’s wishing him many more years of success and good health on his birthday!
