After his outstanding performance as Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat, Ranveer Singh is back as former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev in Kabir Khan’s next flick 83. The story is based on the life of the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev and the iconic World Cup win of the Indian team in 1983. However, the movie is slated to hit the screen in the coming year 2019 on 9 April.

The biopic on the Gold medal winning shooter is in the pipeline. Harshvardhan will be playing the character of Olympic champion Abhinav Bindra in the biopic directed by Kannan Iyer. As per sources, the film is adapted from Bindra’s autobiography ‘A Shot History: My Obsessive Journey To Olympic Gold. Harshvardhan is trying his best to get into the skin of the character.

Shraddha Kapoor is on a roll of portraying the life of ace badminton player Saina Nehwal. This is the second biopic in which she will be seen. In the first biopic, she played the character of the mafia queen Haseena Parkar. Shraddha has started the preparations for it, but it seems like she is not able to cope with the game and make it look convincing!

Soorma is a biographical film based on the life of the former international hockey player Sandeep Singh, directed by Shaad Ali. Diljit Dosanjh plays the role of Sandeep Singh who was paralyzed and was in a wheelchair for two years because a gunshot injury. The movie showcases how Sandeep got back to hockey after fighting against the odds he had to face.

The reel MSD Sushant Singh is all set to play a new role in his upcoming inspiring sports biopic tentatively titled Murli- The Unsung Hero, based on the life of Paralympian boxer Murlikant Petkar. The sportsman later took up swimming as a sport and even made India proud at Common Wealth Games in 1970 and at 1972 Paralympics in Germany. Sushant Singh is said to play the role of this inspirational journey. The release date is still not declared.

Many ideas are coming up for biopics of famous sports personalities, from P.V Sindhu to Gopichand. Some are still said to be in the making, while some have been scripted but the cast has not been decided yet. However, the teams are surely working to create biopics this year!
