Varun Dhawan Tells Us The Secret Behind Bagging The Role As Dan For October

From toning down the volume of his voice to giving up the habit of checking his phone early morning; just some of the things Varun had to do for October!

Actor Varun Dhawan who is very excited about his next release October spoke to the media during the trailer release and his excitement and passion about October were clearly visible. Varun who has earlier been seen mostly in rom coms will be seen in a totally different light in October.

Varun who was very keen on working with director Shoojit Sircar ever since he watched his films had to pursue the director for a while before he got to finally work with him! Varun tells us that his mother is also a huge fan of Shoojit’s films and she would always tell him that he should do at least one film with the director. Well, Varun and his mom’s dream has finally come true with October.

Speaking about the same, Shoojit says, “While i was shooting Pink, Varun called me saying he wants to meet me but it just kept getting postponed. Finally in Jan 2016, Varun called again and I was about to head out. He said he wants to meet me so I said ok come over right away. He told me he was not dressed properly so I told him come and meet me just the way you are and he came in very casually dressed and all the while when we spoke, I was only looking at my character Dan and not Varun! Immediately as he left the office I called my writer Juhi and producer Ronnie and told them I had found our Dan! That’s how and why Varun. I have not seen many films of Varun and I did not know him at all but now he’s become a piece of my heart.”

Varun on the other hand says,“I am glad that I was dressed badly that day. I am glad I was clumsy and even spilled tea. Shoojit sir saw Danny in me then. As actors we look fake because we are wearing costumes brought by someone else, hair done by someone else so that’s not the real us. The one you see in October is the real Varun.”

October as the director and the writer say deals with a disease called Love, no other disease, unlike their earlier films like Piku which dealt with constipation and Vicky Donor which was about sperm donors.

Speaking about his role Varun said, “I believe either there is a good film or a bad film, not a big or small film. I look at the story and with October I can vouch that Shoojit da and Juhi have given their all to this film. I was the last one to be cast in this film and I had to chase Shoojit da quite a bit.”

The first question that Varun was asked by Shooojit was whether he was an honest guy, to which Varun answered that he is an honest person and the person that people see with the makeup and costume is not the real him. Shoojit asked him to be himself in the film says Varun.

“The only thing I asked him to do was to leave his phone and sit in front of a plant, watch it and breathe as soon as he wakes up! He did that and then he called me after a few days and said that he felt good, less anxiety as when he would be on the phone as soon as he woke up earlier, “ informs Shoojit.

Varun also said that the best part of being prepared for October was not preparing. “I am used to a certain kind of tone when I speak and I had just finished with Judwaa before I started shooting for Ocyober so you can image the my tone. I am a loud speaker, Shoojit sir completely changed that too. Even if I wanted to speak loudly the sound just wouldn’t come out loud!” said Varun.

Varun who says that he can’t wait for the film to release and for his fans and the audience to watch was also brutally honest when he said, “I don’t care when I say that more than any of them I need this film in my career today!”

Looking at the reaction of all his young fans who were present at the trailer launch, all I can say is that Varun’s fans need him as much too! Here’s wishing him all the best!
