The film is directed by Director Sharat Katariya of Dum Laga Ke Haisha fame. The director who is impressed with Varun’s dedication said, “Sui Dhaaga as the name suggests, warrants tailoring. Therefore one has to familiarize themselves with the art-form, so when you grab onto a scissor or move the cloth, it should look right; be part of the scene without drawing attention to it. And Varun is enthusiastic to possess the required skill-set which will layer his character beautifully. As such, he’s working daily with Darshan, our Costume Designer, to master the craft… and his focus and growth has been quite impressive.”

Producer Maneesh Sharma feels that audiences are extremely receptive to authenticity and nuance in storytelling and performances. “Varun is aligned to Sharat’s thought and vision to have a strong emotional connect with the audience in the telling of it all. His enthusiasm has brought in a lot of positivity and excitement to the journey of making this film,”added Maneesh.

Sui Dhaaga, a film inspired by Make in India, also stars Anushka Sharma and this is the first time Varun and Anushka have been paired together.,Sui Dhaaga – Made in India is set to release on 28 September, 2018.
