Does Vivek Oberoi Make A Better Baddie Than A Romantic Hero?

When Vivek Oberoi almost didn’t get a role of baddie before Vivegam

While some actors from down South like Dhanush, Madhavan, Siddharth, Prakash Raj etc., have carved a niche in Bollywood and many Bollywood films are being inspired by South Indian films, Bollywood actor, Vivek Oberoi is doing just the opposite. He is making his debut in a Tamil Film, Vivegam. Vivek plays a baddie in Vivegam, which is said to be an action thriller and is written and directed by Siva and stars ‘Tala’ Ajith Kumar, Akshara Hassan, and Kajal Aggarwal. It is said to be one of the biggest projects in the Tamil film industry.

We’ve watched him and loved him as a romantic hero in Saathiya but he decided to stay away from romance as he felt he didn’t do justice to that genre It’s not the first time Vivek has played a baddie though, he has done some Bollywood films as a villain much before his role in Vivegam. In fact his debut film was as a baddie, In Ramp Gopal Verma’s ‘Company’ he played Chandu, an underworld don. An interesting fact is that the director almost didn’t give him this role since he felt Vivek looked too soft to play a gangster. Vivek proved him wrong as he not only pulled off the gangster character but also went on to win awards for his role.

His character, Kesu Firangi in Omkara, was noteworthy too He played another notorious gangster in the film. But his best performance as a bad guy was as Kaal in the Bollywood superhero film, Krrish 3, where he plays an evil genius with telekinetic powers. Besides paying the baddie in these films, he’s also the voice behind the villain Electro in the Hindi dubbed version of The Amazing Spider Man 2.

We’ve also seen him in some comedies and not so likeable slapstick comedies but in the list of characters he’s played so far in his career; it’s his roles as a baddie that dominate the list. He now has one more film to add to that list.
Here’s wishing team Vivegam, All the Best!
