Ever since Varun Dhawan shared a picture of his leading lady for his upcoming film October, people have been wondering who the gorgeous girl is. Well here’s your answer:
Banita Sandhu is a 19-year-old UK based model who lives in London. Born a Punjabi, Banita has been acting since she was 11!
Her Doublemint commercial is what got her fame. The Ad which is a romantic one with the Ek Ajnabee Haseena Se track playing in the background is an eye-catching one and Bani is equally eye-catching. But that’s not the only commercial she’s done. She has also featured in the Vodafone U commercial. But she got noticed in the Doublemint chewing gum commercial which got her almost 40 million hits. Since the commercial too was directed by Shoojit Sircar, he saw her work and thought she was the right person to play the female lead in October.
The interesting part, however, is that this was not supposed to be Banita’s debut Bollywood film! Banita was initially supposed to be a part of another film which was to be a launch for another star kid, the late Vinod Khanna’s son Sakshi. The film was to be produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Mukesh Chhabra.
Whether it’s Shoojit or Sanjay Bhansali, must say Banita is a lucky girl! While it takes a lot of struggling for some aspiring actors to get a break in Bollywood, all it took was one commercial for her to bag a role with one of the best directors in the Indian film industry and work opposite Varun Dhawan who’s almost every young girl’s heartthrob!
We sure are looking forward to watching the stunning Banita on the big screen!
